Massy Gas Products (Jamaica) Ltd conducts its business in compliance with the most stringent safety stipulations. The design and installation of bulk tanks and the associated piping incorporates stringent safety standards.


Safety award

Each year the Petroleum industry recognizes companies in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector that conducts its business with full conformance to the established safety standards. In 2007, 2008 and again in 2009, Massy Gas Products (Jamaica) Ltd copped all the available safety awards. This clearly reinforced Massy Gas Products (Jamaica) Ltd's leadership in safety. Massy Gas Products (Jamaica) Ltd will, under no circumstances, conduct its operations in a manner that pose a risk to it clients.


Emergency Procedure
Important information in the event of an incident for bulk and cylinder customers.

General cylinder storage
Propane cylinders must always be stored outdoors.

Basic rules
  • - Cylinders should be used and stored in the upright position
  • - Cylinders should be stored in well ventilated places away from sources of heat, ignition sources and readily ignitable materials
  • - Cylinders must not be stored or used below ground level or in high rise flats where gas is prohibited
  • - Cylinders should preferably be stored outdoors, away from buildings entry/exit points and feature such as drain
  • - Cylinder must not be kept near to any corrosive, toxic or oxidant material

LPG at fixed installations
In the case of fixed installations, propane cylinders must be sited outside.

Emergency Procedure
Important information in the event of an incident for bulk and cylinder customers.

In the event of a fire
  1. 1. Shut all valves on the tank or cylinders and emergency control outside the building by turning clockwise, if safe to do so.
  2. 2. Call the fire brigade and refer to the presence of LPG
  3. 3. Keep tank or cylinders cool by water spray if possible

Gas Leakages
  1. 1. Extinguish all sources of ignition
  2. 2. Shut all valves on the tank or cylinders and emergency control outside the building by turning clockwise
  3. 3. Do not operate electrical switches
  4. 4. Open all doors and windows. Ventilate at low level (LPG is heavier than air)

Gas Failure
  1. 1. Check contents indicator and pressure gauge on tank if fitted
  2. 2. Turn off gas tap at each appliance
  3. 3. Shut all valves on the tank or cylinders and emergency control outside the building by turning clockwise
